“ The notice of investigation has arrived against the two police officers who stopped the murderers of Carabiniere Legrottaglie”. This was announced by the autonomous police union. The charge is manslaughter . “The colleagues did their duty to stop dangerous armed murderers who did not hesitate to kill Carabiniere Legrottaglie. They risked their lives to bring two brutal criminals to justice and now they risk trial”, explains the general secretary of SAP, Stefano Paoloni, specifying that it is “an act of investigation that will allow the colleagues to participate in all phases of the trial and also in any evidentiary incidents, but they will have to do so with their lawyers and until the trial is concluded their careers will be blocked”.

Paoloni again: “It is time to change the law and when there are reasons justifying the crime such as the legitimate use of weapons, self-defense and fulfillment of duty, we should no longer proceed with the automatic notice of investigation, but first investigations should be carried out in which our administration must represent the operators in the initial verification phases”. Paoloni concludes: “We are close to the two colleagues under investigation in this difficult phase of their professional career and we are certain that they will be able to demonstrate the regularity of their actions, finally we hope that the investigations are as quick as possible. The country must be grateful to our two colleagues for having risked their lives to bring dangerous criminals to justice. Those who do their duty must be rewarded and not put on trial”.
